Remake of my 2005 artwork, Above The Rest. This is not a mere "update" to the original image as it was first intended. Instead, I decided to redo it completely, starting with all 3D modeling & texturing and finishing with PS compositing. All that was kept from the original image were the 2 planets and "he who is above the rest" :). So since it was built from scratch, it took me 2+ weeks to get to this final result, working everyday, sometimes even up to 15 hrs. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the result. Enjoy it.

Resolution: 3987x4392 px
Filesize: 210MB
Layers: 130
Programs: LightWave 9.2 + Photoshop CS2.

No photos used, except for the sky and clouds. Everything made in LightWave 9.2, then assembled in PSCS2. some additional painting done in photoshop.

Ooo! u've finished the redesign. but wait! so much looks slightly different ... even the 'shrine' is a bit different and in a slightly different angle.

i take it u used a 3D model?

anyway, very nicely done :)

yes, as i said, everything was rebuilt from the ground up. I remodeled the shrine completely (the old one was sooooo outdated-it was done 2 years ago, I had poorer modeling skills) and used completely different textures. Perspective was changed to allow better visibility of the shrine.

as for the variety, I meant it like that precisely, in order to emphasize the solitude of the shrines in an ocean of rock. It's definetely not a city, but just a place for meditation, a pilgrimage destination.
